Suspension of adoptions in Madagascar
Extension of the suspension of adoptions in Madagascar
The French government recently announced the renewal of the suspension of adoptions in Madagascar, for an indefinite period. This decision follows the previous suspension, which was limited to one year:
Intercountry adoption procedures, including intra-family adoptions, concerning children habitually resident in Madagascar by any person habitually resident in France are suspended for a period of one year by order of the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs dated October 24, 2022, published in the Journal Officiel de la République française on October 26, 2022.
This suspension applies to all procedures which, on the date of publication of this order, have not been matched by the Malagasy Central Adoption Authority (ACAM), the Malagasy Central Authority for the implementation of the Hague Convention of May 29, 1993.
